The new school year started recently here in Birmingham, and I find myself a little nostalgic. Maybe it’s the fact that my daughter has started her senior year in high school, but I find myself wondering if I’ve sowed into her life in the way she needs so she knows her value and worth.

How did we get here?

It seems like lately I’m trying to hold back time.

  It’s inevitable. One day you’ll look up, and your baby will no longer be a baby, but a big boy or girl ready to start elementary school and face the world. While you’re preparing their lunch or helping them stuff their backpack, make sure you’ve prepared them in other ways too.

I know summer is technically just beginning, but it’s the perfect time to start preparing your child for next school year. Many students will be transitioning to kindergarten, elementary, middle and high school, as well as college, so I thought it was a good time to repeat my Five Things series.

  It’s summer, which means there are lots of good movies in my future. Here are a few to which I’m looking forward.
