Maxwell will bring his soulful sounds to the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex Concert Hall on July 31 at 7:30 p.m.

The singer who just released his fifth studio album, Black Summers’ Night, featuring the hit “Lake by the Ocean,” debuted in 1996 with Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite. Since then, he has had a number of chart-topping hits, including “Pretty Wings,” “Fistful of Tears,” “Fortunate,” “Lifetime,” “Sumthin’ Sumthin’,” “This Woman’s Work,” and “Ascension (Don’t Ever Wonder).”

He will be joined by R&B singer Ro James, who is best known for his single “Permission.”
