Juneteenth Festival, Birmingham Civil Rights Institute
BCRI’s Annual Juneteenth Culture Fest takes place on June18 at Kelly Ingram Park in the historic Civil Rights District. Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration of the ending of slavery. Join BCRI for this free, family-oriented event that features music, contests, free admission to BCRI galleries and other special activities. Magic City Chocolate Challenge
On June 16 from 5-8 p.m., Disability Rights and Resources will once again present the Magic City Chocolate Challenge, bringing area bakers, chefs and caterers together for a friendly challenge to see who can create the best chocolate dish. This signature event benefits individuals with disabilities. Entries will be judged in two categories: people’s choice and judges panel. There will tastings, a silent auction, music, food trucks, dancing, cash bar, plus viewing the wonderful vintage cars at Old Car Heaven.
