If you’re looking for a place for your kids to hang out in the Magic City, Cassandra Woodson, director of Stomp N Shout, wants you to come to her place and have some fun. Woodson recently spoke with Magic City Momma about her business, Stomp N Shout.
Why did you decide to open Stomp N Shout?
I decided to open Stomp N Shout when I was expecting my second daughter. I realized I was going to work, giving my best self to everyone around me and going home totally exhausted and frustrated.
My dad is an entrepreneur, my granddad was an entrepreneur and my husband is an entrepreneur so being my own boss is in my DNA! My dad reminded me that if I could clock in and out for someone else’s dream I was certainly smart enough to do it for myself. My husband and I discussed it and decided it was the right direction for our family.
What activities do you offer?
Stomp N Shout offers birthday parties, baby showers, field trips for day cares, characters, concessions,face painting, after school enrichment and summer camp.
What makes Stomp N Shout different from other party venues?
I am a busy parent of young children, so I know what it’s like to want the best for your children and be pulled in so many directions at the same time. Our goal is to provide a variety of activities for parents with children to choose from.
What’s included in party packages?
We have a variety of packages for families to choose from. Families can choose to do a small party with pizza and ice cream all the way up to a private custom party.
What advice would you give to women juggling a family and dreams?
Women should be very clear early on about what their priorities are and what their desires are. Is going to bed with a clean sink and no dishes a priority or a desire? Once you are clear about your priorities, it will be easier to enlist help from friends and family to help build your dream without guilt. Once the dream is fulfilled, it is going to benefit the family after all!
What advice would you give to women starting a business?
Passion and prayer will keep you going on the days you want to give up, stop, or quit. Passion will make you go back to the drawing board, come up with a new idea or tweak what you are doing. Prayer will provide you with the direction you need and fuel you with the determination necessary to see the vision through.
What’s next for Stomp N Shout?
We are totally excited and overjoyed to adding a pre-K program to the list of services we provide for families. Coming fall 2016! This takes me back to my original roots of teaching.
I feel so fortunate and blessed to be a part of the lives of the children and families we serve on a daily basis. There was a time when I tried to get away from serving children. I recently realized that serving children is God’s way of allowing me to reach women which I know is a part of my purpose and ministry.
