What’s your motivation?
For identical twins Marcia Pruitte Coleman and Marla Pruitte, it’s their passion to motivate others. They are so passionate about it, they have turned it into a business, recently launching moTeevators, a motivational apparel line.
“We want to spread the message of motivation,” Coleman said. “We want all people to live in a positive state, and this apparel line does just that.”
The tshirts, which are available in unisex, men’s and ladies styles, come in a range of sizes and include such phrases as “Push Past Your Quit” and “My Dreams Made Me Do It.”
“Most of our designs are sayings you would hear us say, either when we’re speaking to audiences or online,” Coleman said. “We truly believe that motivation leads to action and wanted catchy phrases that align with our mission and vision.”
In addition to the shirts, which several celebrities have agreed to wear, the Pruitte twins are also motivational speakers.
“As mothers, and I as a wife, it can be tricky,” Coleman said of building a business and raising a family. “We also have other business ventures that include real estate, patented products and other ventures in the making, so for us it comes down to making a decision up front that it won’t interfere with our goals to create a better quality of life. We put forth conscious effort to find harmony in it all. In addition, we both have great support systems that make it possible.”
For other aspiring entrepreneurs, Coleman warns it takes commitment, regardless of your business dreams.
“It is not for the faint of heart… Treat it like a business at every level,” Coleman said. “Get licensed, incorporated, get visible and keep proper records. Otherwise, you are treating it like a hobby. The measure by which you invest either sweat equity or financial investment will be the measure of success you will achieve. You only get what you put in to it.
“Everyone has a dream. Everyone has a purpose,” Coleman said. “Everyone wants more, wants better. It is our hearts’ desire to help everyone take advantage of the opportunities that life brings.”
