Hop aboard the Cottontail Express this Saturday, March 26 for a ride to Peter Cottontail’s meadow. Rides will be available at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Join in the fun at the meadow and hunt for Easter eggs. Several activities will be available to provide lots of family fun, including the bounce house, temporary tattoos, coloring station, and a sandbox. Peter Cottontail will also be on hand so families can take pictures.
The Cottontail Express train ride takes approximately 1½ hours and includes the train ride and meadow activities. Please arrive one hour prior to your departure time to pick up your tickets at the Calera Depot, use the restrooms at the gift shop, and to get in line at your boarding location.
Tickets
Ticket prices start at $12. Children 0–24 months ride for free and are required to sit in an adult’s lap at all times. Families can upgrade to a caboose ticket or locomotive ticket for a memorable experience and get an up close look at railroad operations. Prices include taxes, but not the convenience fee of $3 per ticket for those purchased online or $4 per ticket for those purchased through the ticket call center at 205-757-8383.
Refreshments
Snacks and drinks are available for purchase at the Heart of Dixie Gift Shop and at the Meadow. Purchases at the Meadow are for cash only.
The Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum’s policy is that no food or drinks be brought on the train. This policy also applies to any intermediate train stops where food or drinks may be sold.
Restrooms
There are no working restrooms on the vintage railcars. Please use the restroom at the gift shop prior to boarding.
