Lizz Wright will bring her rich, smoky vocals to the Alys Stephens Center on Friday, February 26 at 8 p.m.
Since her last visit in 2009, the jazz crooner has released two albums, the most recent being Freedom and Surrender, produced by Grammy-winning producer Larry Klein. Initially the album was supposed to be a disc of mostly cover songs, centered on the theme of the circuitous dance of love. Instead, it became the opposite, yielding captivating originals such as “Lean In,” “Real Life Painting” and “Right Where You Are.” This Georgia native has taken the jazz world by storm with her trademark combination of jazz, folk, gospel and soul. Wright has been called the most gifted interpretive vocalist of her generation. Her dynamic soul is illuminated by the layers of passion and playfulness in her music. Don’t miss Lizz Wright as she lights up the Jemison Concert Hall this season.
Tickets can be purchased online.
