Whether you want a quick weekend getaway or you’re planning the trip of your dreams, now’s the perfect time to think about your next vacation.
“With a little planning, anytime is a great time for a vacation,” said Angela Chandler-Norward of TraVerus Travel/Paycation. “It really depends where you are planning to vacation and your budget. You can plan a vacation at least six months in advance. This will allow a little time for those that have to make payments. If time and money are not a factor, then you can plan it in a month or less.”
Although many plan vacations themselves, Chandler-Norward says hiring a travel agent is beneficial.
“Sure you can go online to search for vacation packages, but a travel agent has access to more vendors and added discounts not available to the general public,” she said.
Even if you decide to plan your trip yourself, Chandler-Norward strongly recommends insuring it.
“If you are travelling outside of the USA, your health insurance will not cover you, but a full protection plan will,” she said. “In most cases, the protection plan ranges from $99 to $139 per adult depending on the vendor. Although, we do not plan to miss the flight, get ill or injured while on vacation, it can happen.”
Even if you don’t think you can afford a trip, with some planning, it’s possible.
“Plan ahead,” Chandler-Norward says. “Most vacation packages—be it cruise, hotel or all-inclusive vacation packages through a travel agent—will allow you to make payments. This is much easier on a budget than a lump sum at one time.”
Chandler-Norward also offers one final word of advice: “If you are planning to vacation outside of the USA, please apply for your passport at least six to eight weeks prior to your departure date. This will allow time to correct any errors if the application is not accepted without having to pay the fee to expedite your passport.”
