There are still a few more official days of summer here in Birmingham, but the fast pace of the school year is once again under way. Between helping with homework, trying to get dinner on the table, and shuttling kids to practices, in addition to everything else you have going on, if you’re anything like me, it’s easy to start feeling overwhelmed. Here are a few scriptures I’ve found that help me:
Ephesians 6:10
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his great power.
Matthew 19:26
But Jesus beheld [them], and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
2 Timothy 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Psalm 34:17
When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and rescues them from all their troubles.
1 Peter 5:7
Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.
Philippians 4:8
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
Isaiah 40:31 (ESV)
But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Psalm 23: 4
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Psalm 27: 1
The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?
Jeremiah 17: 7–8
But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
