Today, please join me in praying for our jobs.
Dear Heavenly Father,
I come to you today thanking you for the job you’ve given me.
Colossians 3:23 tells me Whatever I do, I am to work at it with all my heart, as if I’m working to you, not to human masters. Whether I love where I am or hate it, Lord, help me this day to work at my job with all my heart. Help me to give you glory in every task that I am given, with every person I encounter and with every word I speak. Help my work to be a true reflection of you, no matter what comes my way on my job this day.
I know, Lord, that one of the benefits of work is compensation. Help me to be a good steward of the money with which you have blessed me and to use it to not only pay my bills, but to help in the building of your kingdom.
Help me to have a strong work ethic that I can pass along to my children. Even on the days when I feel like calling in sick, especially when I’m not, help my feelings to follow my feet, and help me to get out of bed and go in with a good attitude to the job with which you blessed me. Help me not to abuse lunch periods or break or office supplies, and by the same token, Lord, help me to take advantage of the things that are offered to me because of my employment. Whether it’s vacation time, tuition reimbursement or company discounts, bless me to use them all without guilt or apprehension.
Help me to be a beacon of light in my workplace and beyond, Lord. If I am surrounded by catty coworkers or an overbearing boss who make my hours on the job miserable, show me how to keep my gaze on you and to not behave in a way that would make anyone question my relationship with you.
Lord, I come to you also praying for those who are looking for work. Whether it’s because they have been let go from their previous job or because they no longer feel their current position is a good fit, I ask that you would open doors for them that no man can open so that they can step into the job you created them for.
Lord, I thank you for all that you are and all that you do. I thank you for giving me a desire to want to work and for blessing me with a job. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
