As much as I don’t like to admit it, on occasion, I do find myself jealous. When I realize what’s going on, I try and squash it, but sometimes it’s hard. If you’re anything like me and need help, please join me in saying a prayer for jealousy.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for this day, and thank you for all your many blessings. Thank you for the opportunity to come before your throne of grace and to cast all my burdens and cares upon you.
Lord, today I come asking you to help me deal with jealousy. There are days when I look at what other people have and what they have accomplished, and I find myself wondering why I haven’t been given the same things—why can’t their blessings be mine?
Lord, I know it’s not right to be jealous. I know you have blessed me in ways I never even imagined. Today, help me to focus more on what you have given me and less on what you’ve given to others. Help me to realize in the midst of my jealousy that I am on the outside looking in to what someone else has. I don’t know what they had to do to get or what they are doing to keep anything. Help me to be more appreciative of what I do have and to focus less on what I don’t. Help me to be mindful that there are some people who would love to have the things that I take for granted. Lord, may I be ever mindful that you are no respecter of persons. What you have done for others, you can do for me and that you are blessing me in the way I need to be blessed. Free me from the binds jealousy has on my life, whether it be a little or a lot, and help me to be ever mindful in everything I do and for everything you have given me to always give you the praise, honor and glory.
It’s in Jesus’ name that I pray. Amen.
