This week has me a little nostalgic because on March 8, I’ll celebrate my 28th year as a member of the greatest sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
This sisterhood and my friendships with some other amazing women got me thinking about the importance of having good, solid female friendships. I’ve learned also the importance of having friends who will pray with and for you. Sometimes your friends might be going through things they might not ever share with you, so it’s so important to keep them covered. You might be praying for them when they don’t have the energy to pray for themselves. Today, join me in saying a prayer for friends.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for this day. Thank you for your many blessings. Thank you for this opportunity to pray for my friends. Father, I know even though my friend and I are as close as sisters, sometimes she deals with issues she never shares with me. Whatever my friend is going through this day, bless her. Give her the strength, courage and energy to face any obstacles you put in her path today. Bless her family, her home, her job, her health and every aspect of her life. Father, thank you for blessing me with a friend who keeps my secrets, who cheers for me sometimes louder than I cheer for myself, who speaks life to me, who just gets me in a way not many people do. Thank you that our friendship has evolved where I feel comfortable enough to go to her and share what’s on my heart without fear of judgment or rejection. Thank you for blessing this friendship with laughter. Thank you that even though miles and months might separate us, when we connect it’s like no time has gone by. Thank you for the knowledge she has my back and I have hers. Always. Thank you for this gift of friendship. May I be as good a friend to her as she has been to me. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
