Fall is officially here, which means TV premieres are right around the corner. In addition to my staple shows, including Law and Order: SVU, the One Chicagos and 911, here are a few new and returning shows that are on my radar:
Poppa’s House
Legendary talk radio host and happily divorced Poppa has his point of view challenged as he finds himself still parenting his adult son, a brilliant dreamer who is trying to pursue his passion while being a responsible father and husband.
Watson
Watson is described as a “medical drama with detective elements,” is centered around the character of Dr. John Watson from Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories. It’s starring Morris Chestnut.
Found
Gabrielle “Gabi” Mosely (played by Shanola Hampton), a recovery specialist, and her crisis management team work to find missing people who they believe are overlooked by the system. Her team of experts consists of those who have either been kidnapped themselves or have a loved one that has been kidnapped. A kidnapping victim herself as a teenage girl, Gabi later secretly kidnaps the man who abducted her, Hugh “Sir” Evans, as revenge and keeps him locked up in her basement. Gabi uses Sir’s knowledge as a kidnapper and criminal to help her solve cases.
Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist
Following his return to boxing after dodging the draft, Ali beats Jerry Quarry. Later that night, hundreds are robbed at his after-party in a massive armed robbery. The all-star cast includes Kevin Hart, Samuel L. Jackson, Taraji P. Henson and Don Cheadle.
Cross
The TV series based on James Paterson’s Alex Cross novels features Alex Cross (Aldis Hodge) who uses forensic psychology to analyze killers’ minds, delving into victims’ psyches to identify murderers and bring them to justice.
Matlock
Starring Kathy Bates, the Matlock reboot follows Madeline Matlock as she rejoins the work force at a prestigious law firm, where she uses her wily tactics to win cases and expose wrong doing.
How to Die Alone
Melissa is a neurotic fat black woman who has never been in love, but after a brush with death she refuses to settle for anything less than the life she wants. The show stars Natasha Rothwell.
The Front Room
Starring Brandy Norwood, The Front Room tells the story of a newly pregnant couple forced to take in an ailing, estranged stepmother.
