Every time I’m on social media, I see posts from people requesting prayer, mainly for a loved one or friend who might be going through. I am a strong believer in the power of prayer, so I’m all for these posts. I’ve learned when I see the post or when someone requests prayer to stop what I’m doing right then and to sincerely pray for the person. Otherwise, life gets in the way, and the prayer may never happen.
It occurred to me the other day though, that there are so many people who might not be in a position to pray for themselves, for whatever reason. What kind of friend would I be if I didn’t have your back? Today, my friend, I’m praying for you.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Please bless the person who is reading this right now. I don’t know what their current situation is, but the beauty of my relationship with You is I don’t have to know in order to pray for them because You already know.
Bless the person reading this with whatever they need right now. If it’s a financial blessing, open a door for them; if it’s patience, give them more of that. If it’s love, give them someone who can give them a love wilder than they’ve ever imagined and bless their heart to be receptive enough to receive it. Maybe the person reading this stands in need of a miracle. I know you’re a miracle-working God, and You can supply all of their needs according to Your riches in glory. Maybe they’ve spent the past few weeks anxious about the future or worried about whether they will have a job or a home or lights or water or even how to put food on the table. Help them to be anxious for nothing but to instead pray about everything. Help them to tell You what they need and to be thankful for everything You’ve done. Lord, if the person reading this stands in need of strength to leave a bad situation, bless them; if they are in need of a job, bless them; if they need food, bless them. If they are up all night worried about how they are going to provide for their family, give them a good night’s rest, and bless them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding.
Maybe the person reading this feels alone. Touch their spirit so they know with You, they are never alone. Provide the right person at the right time to give them an encouraging word or a kind deed, and make the interaction so crystal clear they have no doubt it was You in the midst of it.
The person reading this might be in a place where they can’t pray for themselves. Right now, I stand in the gap, and I pray on their behalf. Give them the spark of hope and the mustard seed of faith they need so they know everything is going to be alright. Give them the strength to take things one day at a time, and if for whatever reason they feel like they can’t do that, give them the courage to get through the next second.
Lord, the person reading this might be doing just fine. Despite the circumstances going on around them, they might be experiencing an unspeakable joy that can only be found in You. Bless them continue to put their faith, hope and trust in You.
Lord, thank You for all that You are and all that You continue to do. It’s in Jesus’ name that I pray. Amen.
