When life seemed to be handing entrepreneur and business coach Bridgette Reed lemons, she used the experience to make lemonade. I recently talked with Reed about her company, Olivia Sophia Stationery.
Tell me about your business.
Olivia Sophia Stationery Founded in April 2016, we sell stationery products such as pens, journals, planners, notebooks and more. We also provide customization services to those that want it.
Why did you decide to start it?
My husband and I were having trouble conceiving. After going through a painful procedure, I decided to get off all medication and to stop going to the doctor. Two months later, we conceived. Olivia is our miracle baby that brings us so much joy, and we wanted to share the love, inspiration and joy from her life through the world. We also wanted to leave a legacy for our children as well.
What can patrons expect when they purchase products or services from you?
They can expect an easy process of ordering and a cute pink package to receive their products in along with super affordable, fun and inspiring products.
What’s the best business advice you have ever gotten?
Fail fast and cheaply. People think it’s all about being successful, but you just have to keep on going, trying different things. Whatever works you use and whatever doesn’t you learn from. Either way, you’re moving forward.
What advice do you have for others interested in starting a business?
Get around other entrepreneurs in the beginning often. The reason is they will help you know what is normal and what is not. For instance, being an entrepreneur means inconsistent income, which is different from a nine to five. That mindset needs to be shifted, but when you are around other entrepreneurs you will understand that the money will come when you work your business and you will be alright. You will also be inspired by what they are doing and get motivated to keep pushing.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned as an entrepreneur?
Relationships and partnership is your biggest asset.
What’s next for Bridgette Reed and Olivia Sophia?
We have some big things happening in 2017 for women that I can’t share right now, but keep an eye out by following my Instagram page.
Do you have anything you would like to add?
Thank you for this opportunity. Such an honor!
