Teacher Ashleigh Sparks-Bennett learned to think and live better thanks to the book that changed her life.
What is the book that changed your life? Think Better Live Better by Joel Osteen
Tell me about the book.
The book goes into in-depth detail about how powerful the mind is. Because of this truth we can understand that our life experiences and our reactions to them can be affect our thinking. Due to the fact that our circumstances and/life experiences may have not always been positive we may need to adjust our thinking. This book offered a simple yet life-changing strategy for deleting the thoughts that keep you down and reprogramming your mind with positive thinking to reach a new level of victory. Hence, better thinking creating a better life!
Why did it impact you?
This book truly impacted me because I have gone throughout my life living as “perfect Patty” from the movie Why Did I Get Married? so to speak. Perfect Patty is the woman who has it all together; she can give you the right scripture, give you heartfelt advice and has it all together, but the truth is perfect Patty had war wounds. When we are honest with ourselves, we can truly see the man in the mirror for face value. Uprooting the negative and replacing them with what God says about us is key. If we truly understood that we were created in the image of a perfect being who is all knowing and all powerful, we would truly understand that we can do anything that we put our minds to despite what we may have been told. An example within the book talked about a pregnant dog that had been hit by a car, and as a result, walked around dragging her back legs. As soon as her children began to walk, they repeated the same actions even though there was nothing wrong with their back legs at all. The moral of the story is that although we may have seen certain actions/situations/circumstances etc., that does not mean that they are a model for how things should be. The best teacher of all for how you should properly function is our Heavenly Father.
