“Our students were very excited to participate in Chandra Sparks Splond’s writing workshop. The entire workshop was engaging, ‘hands-on’, and very interactive. As a literacy specialist, it was wonderful to see her tap into the various learning styles of our students all the while maintaining their interest for 50 minutes. During the workshop, students created character selfies from their own independent reading novels, their self-created characters, or used a character from an excerpt Mrs. Splond provided as a model. Throughout the workshop, she gave students feedback on their drafts and many of our students were eager to continue developing their characters beyond the workshop. She provided our students the opportunity to expand on their creativity. She has so much to offer students in the middle grades and in high school. We look forward to working with her again.”
